Great Wireless Stereo headphone
User: JJ Jones, Oct 28, 2009
The best wireless stereo headphones for music and clear calls.
Perfect!
User: Chris Stone, Nov 5, 2009
Pros: Great Fit. Easy setup w/ pre
Cons: Price?
I have used the backbeat for about a week. They are perfect for the gym. I have found myself wearing them most of the day. Perfect fit. Very snug. A little pricey, but worth every penny.
Great headset
User: Justin Clubb, Nov 6, 2009
Have had these for 3 months now, great sound better then plugin headphones, battery life extremly good
have thrown them around, cram them in my pocket and they still work great, love them :)
Great for workouts, excellent sound.
User: T Connors, Nov 16, 2009
Pros: Sound, comfort, durability, charges with Pres micro USB cable.
Cons: Getting used to putting them on.
I love these and feel comfortable running in them outdoors. The feature allowing outside noise to be piped through the speakers while pausing is great for using during outdoor exercise.
I find them very comfortable and also enjoy traveling with one less cable when used with the Pre as they are both micro-USB.
Like another reviewer mentioned, they are a bit pricey, but worth it in that sweaty conditions have not been an issue. I appreciate the durability and the superior sound Ive experienced over other bluetooth headsets.
Great Value Great Sound
User: William James, Nov 16, 2009
I read the good reviews and was a little skeptical, comon, how good can the sound be given that the BT headphones sell for only 90 dollars, not only do they have to play music via BT but also serve as a phone device too. Happy to report the the fit is comfortable and the sound is great, unlike my Sure Earbuds, can listen for hours without listener fatique and no wire to deal with! they main reason I purchased them was for music, but was pleasantly suprised how well the phone feature worked.
Great Product
User: Scott Hellewell, Nov 30, 2009
Pros: Fit, Sound, Call Clearity
Cons: Not the first I tried
I have tried many bluetooth headsets, both stereo and mono, and none of them have fit me as well as the Backbeat 903.

I have a big head, sensitive ears, and wear eye glasses. This makes it difficult to find any headphones that work for me. Almost all ear buds either fall out of my ears, feel uncomfortable, and/or have some other issue.

Behind the head earphones often do not open up wide enough for my big head. When they do, they usually are still sqeezing the back of my head and give me a head ache within a few minutes.

Over the head earphones are really big and bulky. Many of the over the head headset I tried people would say it sounded like I was talking through a tunnel or something like that. The other problem is they seem to break easily. I have 3 little children and they always want to play with daddys stuff. And between them or me playing with or adjusting them to try and get them to fit right and not too tight they always seem to break long before they should.

The single ear mono headsets do not allow listening to music even in mono mode. They often dont fit in my ear properly, cause discomfort, or fall out. I often have a hard time hearing people especially when driving with the air conditioner on. They never seem to be able to be turned up and people complain about the sound of the air conditioner or wind. To top it off the ones without an ear clip always fall out and get lost or dirty when they hit the ground. If they have a clip I am always constantly trying to adjust it so it doesnt hurt my ears or get in the way of my glasses.

Needless to say, I like the idea of listening to music, especially at the gym. I like to talk on the phone without having to hold the phone up to my ear, especially when driving. I dont want my head to be squeezed apart and I dont want my headset to break every month. I am about as picky as can be for a headset.

Now let me describe the backbeat 903. To start with, it is farely non bulky. Obviously it is stereo so it is bigger than the mono, but not nearly as bulky as over the ear head phones. It doesnt cause you to sweat near as much on your ears.

The ear pieces can be adjusted in all sorts of directions. The pieces that go in your ear are designed to not block out all other noise, and are thus safer when driving. They also do not seem to cause nearly as much discomfort as others I have tried. They seem to direct the sound into my ears better than most I have tried. The headphones are still not comfortable enough for me to wear all day long, but it is entirely possible to wear them for several hours without too much fatigue.

These headphones seem to also be very configurable as far as volume. I seem to be able to turn it as loud or soft as I need to. This really helps. People dont realize that I am even wearing them when I talk to them and I can hear them well as I hear them from both of my ears.

I have even found that answering my work phone while wearing them works great. I just have to push the pause button on my music and can put the regular telephone up to my ear over my 903 and can hear the phone perfectly.

As far as size goes, these fit nicely arround the back of my head. Instead of a hard plastic, that is prone to breaking, it is just a wire that seems to be very sturdy. My only complaint is that they didnt seem to align the wire properly and so I have to twist it a bit so that the ears are aligned properly. This may only be on mine, but was not a huge deal. They could have made this wire a little longer for my big head, but it is big enough to work.

I just wish this was the first headset I had tried.
I love them
User: Daryl Riley, Dec 3, 2009
Pros: light, great sound, everything "just works"
Cons: ?????
I have a half dozen bluetooth devices and this is my first choice. I use for music, to listen to Audible books, and for audiocasts, as well as for telephony.

Charges fast, charge lasts for 4-5 hours of heavy (steady) use, Uses a standard micro usb charger. think "talk-time."

I recommend it wholeheartedly.

Clear sound and comfortable
User: scott parsell, Dec 22, 2009
Pros: Excellent device
Cons: None that ive found
Worth the price. Works great!
Should have stuck with Plantronics to begin with
User: Desmond Perrotto, Dec 20, 2009
Pros: fwd/back track, outside noise through the mic, awesome noise cancelling
Cons: Cant really think of a flaw
For several years I had used the Plantronics Pulsar which I loved. Sound was great, and synced up with a dongle to most anything. I had it with my treo and the one thing it lacked was the fwd/back. When I got the Instinct it worked, but the headset was big and bulky compared to what was coming out on the market.

My dream headset would be ear buds, behind the neck, and flexible enough to put in my pocket instead of carrying them around. It needed to have excellent noise cancellation, be able to switch volume, as well as tracks, and have awesome sound.

I tried several of the Motorola with my Palm Pre, and none of them held up. Some of them actually died within several days of taking them to the gym and having sweat drip in there.

The Backbeat is amazing. Durable, and has all the features I want. I should have just stuck with Plantronics.
BackBeat 903 Stereo Bluetooth Headset

The Best
User: Robert Ramolete, Jan 30, 2010
Pros: Good Fit, Amazing Sound, better than the apple wired set
Cons: Ring tones should be heard in the headset
I tried a set of Motorola S9 HD that was probably made in China. The sound was "tinny" compared to this Backbeat 903. I really love the way the music is played back on this headset and the fit is good and comfortable. It seals the outside ambient sounds. I cant understand why others are complaining about this as I have no problems with my set. It would seem to me that this headset sounds just as good if not better than the Apple wired set that comes with the iPhone. I woulld strongly recommend this headset over the S9 HD. A friend of mine did buy the Motorola Rokkor S9 HD and the seller claimed this was 100 authentic. The only problem with that headset was the phone dont even ring any sound when paired with the iPhone. He dont like the idea because he has programmed all his ring tones to identify his callers. As for the Plantronics Backbeat 903, The ring tones come through the iPhone and tones are heard in the headset when you have an incomming call. Still, all in all, the Altec Lansing speaker System in the Plantronics Backbeat 903 is definitely no. 1 in my book regaurdless what the ratings are otherwise. Everybody, BUY ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It rocks, but wont even charge up now
User: Rockn Michelle, Jan 24, 2010
Pros: Wonderful Bass response
Cons: Wont charge up anymore, need to send back for replacement
this is the best stereo bluetooth heasdset I have used. I was really enjoying it then yesterday it stopped charging. S now I am in the process of returning it for a replacement.

Wish me luck!
Good
User: Joe Truckey, Dec 7, 2009
Pros: sound is good
Cons: cannot hear those around
I was exited to get these in the mail. I quickly charged them up and began to use. The sound is very good. The connection sometimes cuts in and out if you keep the phone in your pocket. So this was dissapointing.
Aphone conversation seems to work great, as if you are not even talking on a cell phone.
Poor background noise cancellation
User: Greg Harlow, Jan 1, 2010
Pros: Great sound
Cons: Not good in a noisy atmosphere
I loved these and played with them for a month. But I drive a diesel car and I couldnt hear people well and they couldnt hear me while driving. And, isnt that where we are required to use hands free devices - in the car?

Otherwise, at home, these were great for music, podcasts and conversation.
OK but was expecting better
User: Mike Lara, Jan 21, 2010
Pros: Sound quality
Cons: Voice quallity complaints from callers, fit
Still trying to get used to the fit. One size fits all ear gels dont block much ambient noise. Come Spring Im guessing they wont be very useful while riding the lawn tractor. Random drop outs are very brief but annoying.
Good and Bad
User: Zach Brown, Feb 19, 2010
Pros: Great Sound, Comfortable, Charges with Pre Cable
Cons: Not Sweat Proof
Positives: Overall, these headphones are great for everyday use. Sitting at your desk, doing chores around the house, etc. Great sound quality, easy to pair, long battery life and good bluetooth phone reception.

Negatives: NOT SWEAT PROOF. For anyone looking for true "sports" headphone, these are not the answer. I went thru 2 pair and my wife went thru 1 in under a month. Probably great for light to moderate exercise, or weight-lifting, but not for any type of endurance exercise, which primarily involve lots of sweating. One other sidenote... I wore my pre on my forearm during runs, and though my sport case was thin, it covered the entire phone, depending on my angle, my music would cut in-and-out. It wasnt a terrible problem, but it did get annoying from time to time.
good but beaware
User: steve b, Feb 27, 2010
I have been through many many headsets. These sound great and I like hearing conversations in both ears. I do find that they tend to drop connectivity with the handset when walking if I turn my head in the wrong direction. This gets very annoying. Tech support said to reboot an re pair. This did not help the situation for me. They are fine when I am sitting still like in the car.
Call is good, but...
User: Esteban Camacho, Jan 19, 2010
Pros: Good call quality and mic
Cons: Everything else
The headset is great when it comes to calls, however, that is not really the purpose of a stereo bluetooth headset... that is unless you know some human being that can speak in stereo. The music quality suffers greatly when the volume is turned up. Also, the headset is rather uncomfortable overall. I returned it to Sprint after 5 days of trying it and switched to the Motorola S9-HD headset, which I am keeping. I guess if you want a stereo headset for calls only, this is great for you, otherwise... look to the competition.
Great headset for non-athlete
User: M Marino, Nov 4, 2009
I loved this headset when it worked. Sound quality is definitely better than Jaybirds JB-200 but not quite as good as the Sony HBH-IS800. The controls on the headset work reasonably well (minus the track controls which iPhone does not support).

My problem with this headset was durability. The headset seems to aimed at the active user but I shorted out 3 headsets within a 6 week period due to sweat while running/resistance training. If you are a casual user of this headset and wont be sweating much than I think its great...otherwise stay away.
Good but...
User: Richard Velez, Nov 29, 2009
Pros: Sounds, Battery Life
Cons: Mic
I have these headset. Sounds great, long battery life but the when I pickup a phone call, the person on the other side says, I sound like Im under water most of the conversation. I have to turn off the bluetooth and talk using the phone.
Shorts out if youre a runner or cyclist
User: Andrew Buswell, Jan 3, 2010
Pros: fits well, comfortable, buttons make sense
Cons: shorts out and breaks...kind of a problem
I had 3 of these before I just gave up in a 3 week timeframe. I rode with these and they simply couldnt handle the sweat. They shorted out each time...still trying to find the perfect bluetooth headset for the iphone for a cyclist and/or runner.
