Best wired headset ever
User: Stanley Anderson, Dec 7, 2006
Pros:
Incredible noise cancellation
Cons:
Pricey; Long-term durability still debatable
I have owned several models of "TheBoom" including the original model, the most recent v4 rendition as well as TheBoom Quiet. All perform beyond expectation with regard to noise cancellation. Sometimes it seems simply amazing that a headset can be so effective regardless of the environment. To not be able to hear yourself talk yet be heard clearly on the other end seems almost unbelievable but is the standard for this headset.
My only gripe has been with durability. My original boom ultimately failed due to the mouthpiece drooping too much to be of use. The newer models have alleviated this problem.
I had a minor issue making sure there was a good match between my Treo and the headset (I had some echo using TheBoom Quiet with my 650 due to the particular connecting wire used between the headset and the phone. It was fixed promptly by UmeVoice!)
Overall, I'd say it's hard to go wrong with this headset. If the ability to limit noise is what you require, you won't find a better headset.
Not True Company and product good, No I dont work for theboom
User: Russ Messick, Dec 14, 2008
Pros:
Fragile, looks sturdy but breaks and falls apart easily
Cons:
The technology is pretty mind blowing
Ok, I have owned two Theboom V4s. The sound and technology is damn amazing. The design and structural integrity, the quality of material is trash. So go figure? Had two, both broke within one month. The ear gel ear plug kept slipping off and getting lost. Even the paint or whatever you want to call it, on the plastic, wears off fast and easy. They returned one of mind since it was within 30 days for a full refund with no problem. Nothing better if you need something like this, just be warned, you have to handle it with kit gloves or they will break. Use a hard case, not the pouch since mine broke while in the pouch. I started using a hard sunglass case. The do work though and the company is legit! Thanks!

Cons:
HORRIBLE customer service / bad product
Got the Boom O to use with my Blackberry. The headset did not work with it. Had to send it back and get a different version designed for Blackberrys. The second headset had tons of crackling noise. Couldnt use. Sent back for repair and its been 2 months and have not got anything back nor have I been able to get anyone at the Boom on the phone...as far as I am concerned, this company is not legitimate and I do not recommend buying their products.
Impedance problem with 700p
User: Gene Gerwin, Jan 9, 2008
Pros:
Great noise reduction
Cons:
Crackles.. disconnects calls
I bought two of these and experienced the same problem with both- crackling and call disconnections. I called Ume directly and was told that there is an impedance mismatch with the Treo 700p. They have to customize the adapter to make it work properly.
Ive been trying to get a corrected adapter for 4 months straight now. Ive noticed you can no longer find the tech support number for Ume on their website.
